Olivier S. Garcia

Olivier S. Garcia behaalde zijn diploma aan de Filmacademie in 2016, met specialisatie in regie-documentaire. Na zijn afstuderen nam hij deel aan de Kids & Docs workshop, waaruit de jeugd-documentaire SKIP & THE RHYTHM RANGERS (Witfilm/NTR) voortkwam, die werd geselecteerd voor de IDFA jeugdcompetitie. Vervolgens maakte Olivier de korte documentaire TORSO (Tangerine Tree/EO) in het kader van Teledoc Campus, die in première ging op het NFF in Utrecht.

Hierna stortte hij zich op het maken van de driedelige documentaireserie GEWOON BOEF voor Videoland, in samenwerking met productiebedrijf Newbe. Deze spraakmakende documentaire vestigde records als de meest gestreamde documentaire op Videoland.

Olivier werkte ook samen met FunX en de NTR aan de uitzending voor de FunX Awards, met video's over zinloos geweld, feminisme en de Black Lives Matter-beweging. Samen met Akwasi Ansah regisseerde hij EEN GAT IN MIJN HART, de eerste documentaire van Omroep Zwart (Yalla docs) over de impact van de vliegramp van 1992 op de kinderen in de Bijlmer in Amsterdam.

Olivier zijn eerste lange documentaire IN BETWEEN THESE MOUNTAINS, een film over zijn vader en broer en de rol van mannelijkheid in hun gezin, is uitgebracht in samenwerking met de KRO/NCRV en producent mint film office. Daarnaast is zijn documentaire FEIS FOREVER in 2025 uitgekomen die Olivier samen met FUNX/NTR. heeft ontwikkeld.  Deze film gaat over Feis, de ongekroonde held van de Rotterdamse underground hip-hop scene. Recent is de bioscoopdocumentaire GOLDBAND:TOT WE BREKEN uitgekomen, Een rauw, intiem coming-of-ageverhaal over het vinden van jezelf in de schaduw van de spotlights.

Olivier S. Garcia, a graduate in documentary directing from the Film Academy in 2016, embarked on a compelling journey in the world of filmmaking. Post-graduation, he immersed himself in the Kids & Docs workshop, birthing the youth documentary SKIP & THE RHYTHM RANGERS (Witfilm/NTR), a standout selection for the IDFA youth competition. Following this success, Olivier crafted the short documentary TORSO (Tangerine Tree/EO) as part of Teledoc Campus, premiering at the NFF in Utrecht.

Notably, Olivier ventured into the creation of the groundbreaking three-part documentary series GEWOON BOEF for Videoland, produced in collaboration with Newbe. This thought-provoking documentary shattered records as the most-streamed documentary on Videoland.

Collaborating with FunX and the NTR, Olivier contributed to the FunX Awards broadcast, producing videos addressing issues such as senseless violence, feminism, and the Black Lives Matter movement. In a significant partnership with Akwasi Ansah, he directed EEN GAT IN MIJN HART, the first documentary for Omroep Zwart (Yalla docs), exploring the impact of the 1992 plane crash on the children in Amsterdam's Bijlmer district.

Olivier’s first feature-length documentary, IN BETWEEN THESE MOUNTAINS, a film about his father and brother and the role of masculinity within their family, was released in collaboration with KRO/NCRV and producer mint film office. In addition, his documentary FEIS FOREVER was released in 2025, which Olivier developed together with FUNX/NTR. This film is about Feis, the uncrowned hero of the Rotterdam underground hip-hop scene.

More recently, the documentary GOLDBAND: TOT WE BREKEN was released, a raw, intimate coming-of-age story about finding yourself in the shadows of the spotlight.
