Nena van Driel
Nena van Driel, a rhythmic and intuitive screenwriter from Amsterdam with a nostalgic touch, graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2017. At that time, she contributed to episodes of the successful children’s series MEES KEES DE SERIE. In 2019, she received a grant to experiment and delve into the Nouvelle Vague and conceptual writing.
Following that, marked a successful period for Nena. She wrote scripts for three out of the six Dutch films that premiered at the Berlinale. Among them is the feature film KIDDO (Studio Ruba), nominated for a Golden Calf for Best Screenplay, as well as the short films MAGNA (Ijswater Films) and MA MÊRE ET MOI (BIND Film). The feature film MELK (Lemming Film), based on Nena’s script, premiered at IFFR 2024. She also wrote the script for MEMORY DEALERS (Studio Ruba), a TV film for VPRO that premiered at IFFR.
Nena has embarked on writing the script for the film adaptation of the unconventional debut success DE GESCHIEDENIS VAN MIJN SEKSUALITEIT by Tobi Lakmaker. The film rights are in the hands of Halina Reijn and Topkapi Films.
