Rosita Wolkers

Rosita Wolkers graduated as a screenwriter from the Netherlands Film Academy with the internationally acclaimed dance film SISTERS directed by Daphne Lucker This garnered her a Zilveren Krulstaart nomination and won the AHK Graduation Award and the AHK Audience Award. Making her debut as a writer-director, she created the short film SUNSHINE MOTEL, nominated for Best Live Action Short at Cinekid 2021, the Region Skåne Short Film Award at BUFF 2022, and the Vers Awards 2022 for Best Direction, Best Film, and Best Screenplay.

The Cinekid 2021 jury report on SUNSHINE MOTEL stated: “A playful, beautifully stylized short film with a strong signature. The craftsmanship in the look & feel is evident. We enjoyed the colors, production design, and cinematographic style. The strong, convincing performance of a well-directed very young actress elevates the scenes to a higher level.”

Rosita does not shy away from incorporating her personal experiences into the narrative, and the themes she addresses stem from an intrinsic drive to tell powerful, human stories, often from a female perspective.

Currently, she is working on her first feature film script GORILLA’S. She is also developing the short dance film HER BODY. Additionally, she works as a writer-director on the short film GRANAATAPPELS. In the future, she hopes to contribute to various creative projects, including narrative dance films, feature films, and high-end (youth) drama series.
